Our English group created an Instagram page to spread awareness on some of the faults in our education system. We did a bunch of research into it and created a presentation for our class, along with writing an essay about it and what we did. We made multiple posts talking about it and what was wrong
I wrote an essay on presidential persuasion and felt pretty good about how I did. I feel my usage of conjunctive adverbs is really solid and adds to the flow of the essay. One spot I used it in was comparing Trump's and Obama's styles, saying,"Trump’s loaded words and fear factor did really well for a portion of people; in contrast, Obama connected more personally with the people and appealed to a larger audience" I need a little more work on coming up with good hooks, but after a lot of rethinking I came up with,"Presidents persuade people in many different ways, and some ways are more effective than others" I went back after typing out the essay and made a lot of improvements on what I had previously written. I was writing in both past and present tense without realizing it, and went back to fix it afterwards.
In school, when your in a class your not interested in, you will often go through the motions just to get the grade, but you won't learn anything from it. We have become very good at this and do it without realizing, but it makes the classes become a waste of time. If we put the effort in to actually learn the content, it will be much better for us and make it so the class wasn't just a waste of time and an A on the screen. I have been trying to break this habit but it is hard after doing it for years.
I feel education is very important as without it the world would stop advancing. Education teaches us what we need to know to get through life and become a functioning member of society. I do agree that the education system we currently have could be improved in what it teaches and how, but that doesn't make education unimportant. Without it the world would not be where it is today. Another thing about education is that it lets us explore career paths so we know what we want to do in our future, and gives us the ability to start down that path.
