THE PROJECT: Our assignment was to create an informational video on the physics behind sports and the most effecient way to make a certain action in that game. We chose the underhanded freethrow for basketball as our focus THE PROCESS: We started with taking some video clips of our group member shooting underhand freethrows, we then used the video, the weight of the ball, and the distance it traveled to find the force he put on the ball, which is how much energy put into it, the amount of work he did to move the ball, or how much energy he used, and the velocity of the ball, which is the time it takes to travel a given distance. THE PRODUCT: We could not upload the video because there was copywright issues, we had a video of Rick Barry shooting and it didnt allow us to put it on youtube. We ended up uploading it to a flash drive, we pulled some pictures from the video and put them on the left. THE CONCLUSION: All in all, I feel like I greatly improved in my leadership skills, the group was tough because no one was a good leader. I had to step up to the plate and lead. Admittedly I was not very good at leading the project and we had to revise the whole project, but it ended up pretty good once everything was layed out. THE CONCEPTS: Force: The amount of energy you put into an object to make it move Velocity: The distance an object travels in a given time Acceleration: the speed at which the objects velocity increases |
